WA Government Schools' Chamber Music Festival

Wind Quintet

The Inaugural WA Government Schools' Chamber Music Festival is open to Government School chamber ensembles, under the direction of a School of Instrumental Music teacher or a classroom music teacher from the school. In 2009, the festival will be held on Sunday, 25 October.

There is no entry fee for this event.

The aims of the Festival are:

  • To provide a performance opportunity for students who play in a small ensemble.
  • To give ensembles an opportunity to listen to others perform.
  • To provide each ensemble with constructive comments from an adjudicator.
  • To present each ensemble with a certificate which recognises its participation.

Participating ensembles present an appropriate program of up to three pieces, with a total performance time not exceeding 10 minutes. Pieces must be voiced in at least 3-parts. The festival is open to chamber ensembles consisting of orchestral or concert band instruments.

Directors of ensembles should make every endeavour to ensure members of their group are encouraged and given the opportunity to listen to others as part of their participation in the festival. It is expected that ensembles will not be conducted by their director.
